Jess Cornelius
Jess Cornelius
New Zealand-raised Jess Cornelius is the songwriter, singer and instrumentalist behind Australian act Teeth & Tongue. She released three critically-acclaimed albums as Teeth & Tongue, including 2016’s Give Up On Your Health, which came out via Remote Control Records in Australia and Dot Dash/Captured Tracks in North America. The album was nominated for a J Award and several The Age Music Victoria Awards. Cornelius was invited to perform at Meredith Music Festival, Laneway Festival, The Falls Festival, SXSW, CMJ in NYC, MONA, Darwin Festival, and Perth International Arts Festival.

Teeth & Tongue’s earlier album Grids (2014) was described by The Guardian as ‘instant classic potential’, and led to nominations for Best Album, Best Band and Best Female Artist at The Age Music Victoria Awards.

Jess Cornelius began working under her own name in 2017, releasing her EP Nothing Is Lost through Remote Control Records. The first single ‘Jealousy’ premiered on NYLON, and the second single, ‘Love and Low Self Esteem' was named one of Australia’s best releases of 2017 by RRR's Simon Winkler in Tone Deaf magazine. Rolling Stone US named her a ‘New Artist You Need to Know.’

In 2017 Jess Cornelius supported Paul Kelly on a 26-date tour across the US. Now based in LA, Cornelius has toured with Courtney Barnett, Vance Joy, J. Mascis, Laura Marling, Jen Cloher, Sons & Daughters, Megan Washington and Mountain Goats.
